Administration
In addition to providing management support to NERT regional offices, Administration plays a primary role in developing volunteer teams at the
regional and local level. Additionally, this office focuses on positioning NERT to serve long term interests of the organization and its ability to provide
coordinated emergency services with federal, state and local government agencies.

Grants
One of the primary functions of the Grant Department is research in order to identify appropriate funding organizations. Once identified, it is then
necessary to determine how to approach an organization for a grant. In many cases, there is considerable effort cultivating relationships with
organizations via phone calls, visits, and/or letters of inquiry.

Additionally, the Grant Department provides each funding organization with a well-written proposal which clearly states NERT objectives and sets
forth a plan and budget for activities.

In addition to checking its own resource files, the Grant Department conducts a computerized search in an effort to identify potential funding sources
related to a specific NERT project. The result of this process provides information about federal, state, and private agencies involved in emergency
relief services.

Policy and Planning
This office focuses on positioning NERT to serve the long term interests of the organization and its ability to provide coordinated emergency services
with federal, state and local government agencies. The Policy and Planning Department works directly with the NERT Advisory Board members to
ensure a clear and consistent direction of the organization.

Information Systems
This department is charged with developing and administering automation programs, standards and practices where partnership with community
volunteers and government agencies improve emergency service responsiveness.
